Rec It Philly is a movement, urging Philadelphia City Council and Mayor Kenney to pass a 2023 budget that includes a $8 million increase in the Parks & Rec operations budget.
A budget increase funds:
Expansion of pilot program staffing plan to the entire city
$1 million more for operations to handle sustained increase in park visits
$1 million to respond to increased storm damage and extended parks season caused by climate change
Launch of Urban Agriculture Plan
Launch of Philly Tree Plan, including increases in tree removal and pruning
Equity in sports partnership with Philadelphia Youth Sports Collaborative
Hiring an Inclusion Services Director
Technology upgrades
A new Kensington operations crew
Funding PPR at this level will support the essential services of Parks & Rec and make progress towards: Making sites safe, clean and ready to use in every neighborhood, increasing recreation, programming, and increasing tree canopy.
Join them at the North Apron of City Hall on the 21st at 4:30pm for a rally to speak up!
